Legislation
The Coalition for Family Health was created to spearhead a statewide public awareness campaign in support of a Prevention First legislative agenda.
The legislative agenda is designed to pro-actively focus on the prevention of unintended pregnancy and a reduction in the need for abortion.
Whereas key Ohio policy-makers and opinion leaders have promoted an ultra-conservative discussion of reproductive health care in recent years, 89% of Ohio voters support women having access to contraception and view contraception as more effective in reducing the number of abortions. This includes 83% of self-identified “pro-life” voters(1). “An ounce of prevention” is clearly a preferable course of action.
The Coalition for Family Health has chosen to focus its efforts on the Ohio Prevention First Act, a comprehensive – and common ground – approach to reducing the number of unintended pregnancies in Ohio. The Ohio Prevention First Act will be introduced by Sen. Capri Cafaro and Rep. Nickie Antonio.
